Europe’s cheapest city breaks in April with bargain flights

Published

on

Spring is one of the best times of year to book a city break. The weather is mild but not boiling and there are fewer crowds than in summer.

But where are Europe’s cheapest city breaks for a spring holiday?

I searched Skyscanner for the cheapest flights for Britons in April. Bear in mind these prices are for flight only and Britons may need to pay more for seat selection and luggage.

All of the destinations featured in this article also have great bargains available for accommodation.

Do you have a favourite spring destination? Let us know in the comments or check out the world’s prettiest springtime holidays.

Tirana, Albania

I found flights to Tirana for less than £50 per person in April from London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham.

Top attractions include the BUNK’ART museum, the Dajti cable car and the city’s grand park. It’s just a short trip to the coast as well. Tirana also has a fantastic cafe and bar culture with cocktails on offer for just £5.

I visited Tirana last July and stayed in the city centre for just £20 per night. Find out where the best places to eat are in our review.

Romania

Britons can reach several Romanian cities for under £50 per person, including Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest.

Bucharest is known as Europe’s ‘Little Paris’ while Cluj-Napoca sits in the heart of the country’s mystical Transylvania region.

While in Romania, make sure to sample sarmale, a traditional stuffed cabbage roll or tochitura, a roasted pork stew.

Poland

Poland is packed with bargain city breaks. While Krakow is perhaps its best-known, there are several lesser-known spots which are just as beautiful but far more affordable.

Visit Bydgoszcz for storybook canal vistas with flights for less than £50 per person from London, Bristol and Birmingham.

Relax in Poznan’s Old Market Square with flights for under £50 from London, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Bristol.
