Fan favorite Cody’s Wish worked Wednesday morning at Payson Park, his first published drill since winning the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
He worked three furlongs in 38.8 seconds at Payson Park for trainer Bill Mott.
The Dirt Mile win was the now-5-year-old’s seventh victory in his last eight starts.
Also working Thursday was Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Wonder Wheel, who was last seen finishing second in the Suncoast Stakes.
They were among 10 graded-stakes winners with published works on Wednesday.
Cody’s Wish (Curlin), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2022 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, 2022 Forego) worked three furlongs in 38.8 seconds at Payson Park Training Center on Wednesday morning. It was the second fastest of three works at the distance. This is his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) going one mile on the main track at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Bill Mott.
Wonder Wheel (Into Mischief), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2022 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, 2022 Alcibiades) worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Casse Training Center on Wednesday morning. It was the eighth fastest of nine works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed second in the Suncoast going one mile 40 yards on the main track at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 11 for trainer Mark Casse.
Champions Dream (Justify), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Nashua), worked four furlongs in 49.6 at Casse Training Center on Wednesday morning. It was the seventh fastest of nine works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed 11th in the Sam F. Davis (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 11 for Casse.
California Angel (California Chrome), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Jessamine), worked four furlongs in 50.8 at Fair Grounds on Wednesday morning. It was the 22nd fastest of 25 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed ninth in the Mrs. Revere (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs on Nov. 25 for trainer George Leonard III.
Master Piece (Mastercraftsman), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Eddie Read), worked three furlongs in 38.2 at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 5 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going four furlongs at Gulfstream Park. In his last start he placed seventh in the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 28 for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.
