Ulster have been handed a significant boost ahead of their Investec Champions Cup campaign with the return of four players from injury going into Saturday’s clash with Bath, including captain Iain Henderson.
The second row missed last Saturday’s United Rugby Championship defeat to Edinburgh at Ravenhill with a hip problem but his fitness will be monitored ahead of the trip to The Rec this weekend.
Also back in the mix is Ireland international Rob Herring, who also missed the game against Edinburgh with a calf injury sustained in training, which would allow him to renew his hooker tandem with Tom Stewart in another huge boost for head coach Dan McFarland.
Meanwhile, there are also returns from groin and hip injuries for Michael Lowry and Jake Flannery respectively which will further enhance Ulster’s options in the back line.
Lowry’s return is particularly well timed given that full-back Will Addison is a doubt for the Bath game after sustaining a concussion against Edinburgh, while Flannery has provided a reliable alternative to Billy Burns at fly-half and could be in the mix to start the game.
However, it looks like Ben Moxham will be out longer term after injuring his knee late in the Edinburgh loss, with the winger going for an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.
