Staybridge Suites to add three new European properties

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced further European expansion for its Staybridge Suites extended stay brand with new properties planned in Budapest, Antwerp and Belfast.

The latest announcement is part of an expansion of the Staybridge brand in Europe with nine planned properties set to join 10 existing hotels across the continent, including Staybridge Suites Malaga, which will become the brand’s first property in Spain when it opens later this year.

Staybridge Suites Antwerp will have 99 rooms and is set to open in 2026. It will be followed by properties in Budapest and Belfast in 2027, which will have 152 and 132 rooms respectively.

The new hotels will include fully equipped kitchens in each suite as well as facilities such as a fitness room, shop, laundry and storage lockers for guests to secure personal items between their stays. They will also offer a breakfast buffet and “happy hour” evening events.

Willemijn Geels, IHG’s vice president of development in Europe, said: “The three latest signings follow the opening of Staybridge Suites Cannes Centre, France, in December 2023.

“This shows the great appetite for our all-suites offering across Europe as we meet a growing need for trips that blend business and leisure, or for guests staying multiple nights seeking both productivity and relaxation.”

IHG is expanding Staybridge Suites’ presence around the world with 171 new properties set to open in the next three to five years in addition to its current portfolio of 324 hotels. IHG also owns the Candlewood Suites and Atwell Suites extended stay brands.

“Globally, the brand’s pipeline equals more than half its current open footprint, showing long-term confidence from our owners who are increasingly investing in this brand in new and dynamic markets,” added Geels. “We are delighted to work with our trusted partners to bring these hotels to life and we can’t wait to see them thrive.”
