Having a Mayor: Promises, priorities and a two-horse race?

Having a Mayor follows the thrills, spills, faffs and gaffes of the 2024 race for mayor of London, with BBC London’s Karl Mercer, Tim Donovan and Susana Mendonça discussing the latest issues, debates, candidates, campaigns and more.

This week, as campaigning energy ebbs post-Easter chocolate, they ponder the differing campaign styles of the front-runners.

Labour’s Sadiq Khan has been joined on the stump by shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves. But the question is: will he get the money he wants if both he and his party win? Also, with some polls showing shortening odds for the Conservatives, is Susan Hall’s approach to campaigning paying off?

The BBC London trio also look at priorities when it comes to voting for the next mayor of London, as Karl Mercer gets the verdict from some of London’s students. And we find out which of our presenters is the hardest working, according to their weekly step counts at least.

We would like to hear your questions about the mayoral election, your thoughts, observations and – don’t be shy – your rants. Whatsapp the team on 08000 321 333 starting the message with “London”. Or email
