The top 20 safest cities in Europe have been named, and while some come as no surprise, one country remarkably claimed three top places in the list.

The safety index is derived from surveys conducted by visitors to the Numbeo website. Results are presented on a scale of zero to 100. If the city has a high safety index, it is considered very safe. The data is updated contituously, with historical indices also published periodically.
